Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page for the London Marathon 2010.
For all those of you who have kindly offered to sponsor me I have decided to support the Salvation Army to help in their International Development work. To many people the Salvation Army play Carols at Christmas and come knocking on your door but for those of us lucky to have seen their work first hand the 'Army' are truly amazing people. Those who work overseas are there in times of extreme need like the Haiti earthquake providing four million meals or assisting survivors of the Brazilian mud slide. In India community support workers are there providing education and giving practical help to allow communities to lift themselves out of poverty. In some areas of Africa Salvation Army Hospitals and Clinics are often the only sources of healthcare and health education. My muscles may ache for a couple of days but your support will last a lifetime and below is some examples of what you money will buy: £4 Will provide counselling to a child who has been orphaned by Aids. £8 Will provide a mosquito net stopping the spread of Malaria £13 Will provide silkworms helping a community work their way out of poverty and not fall prey of humantraffickers £20 Will support a community health worker in a rural area preventing people having to walk days and days just
to get medical help. Thanks for your support, Susan
