Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are participating in the Jurassic Coast Marathon on Saturday 14th May 2022, to raise money for Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Charity. Polycystic Kidney Disease or PKD is a range of life-threatening inherited conditions that can cause kidney failure and affect other organs - this is the link to the PKD website where you will find further information:
Home (pkdcharity.org.uk)

Sue - We are doing the marathon in memory of my dearest sister Helen Freeborn, who fought PKD bravely and fiercely for many years. She had a kidney transplant in 2011, and then became susceptible to virus after virus after her immune system was compromised from having a plasma exchange. But after being in numerous life threatening situations with the viruses, she always fought and found the courage to recover - this included learning to walk again after she had been in comas, and after numerous stays in intensive care. This lady is the bravest, strongest and most courageous person I have ever known in my life and I am so blessed that she is my sister. She `was an inspiration to other patients and to all the medical staff at the Royal London hospital. I want her memory to live on forever.

As a thank you as well to all the NHS staff at the Royal London hospital, and to raise money for the PKD charity so that we can try and help find a cure with all the research they do, to help other PKD sufferers.

Graham - After having a recent hip replacement, I wanted to focus on getting fit and the marathon will be something to aim for, and look forward to, as well as raising money for a worthwhile cause.

So please sponsor us and support us in our huge challenge.

Thank you all so much

Sue & Graham
