Fircroft Funraiser · 7 September 2013

We aim to support neurodivergent people and those with complex conditions who need a safe place where their sensory and behavioural needs are accommodated so they can play, socialise and develop skills. Our services for parent/carers includes support groups, personalised advice and training.

Story

Fircroft Aberdeen are walking 20 miles from Aberdeen to Banchory on 7 September, to raise money for a charity called SensationAll.  This is a charity to help support and bring fun to children with special needs as well as their parents and siblings.

SensationAll have a small soft play area set up at Lawsondale, Westhill at the weekend, that allows the special needs children to come along (with their siblings) to be themselves and have fun.  This is particularly important as kids with special needs can quite often be scared of going to the other “Mainstream” soft play areas, and are sometimes ridiculed by people ignorant of their needs.

This charity is particular close to our hearts as our colleague Rebecca has a 6 year old autistic son, Joe.  Joe and his twin sister Rachel both love going to Lawsondale at the weekends and both have great fun.  SensationAll is drawn further closer to our hearts as Rebecca voluntarily gives up some of her free time at the weekends to work for SensationAll where she is also the Treasurer.
