We bring hope and protection to children in the world's hardest places

Story

You all know how passionate I am in my role as an Ambassador, sponsor and fundraiser for World Vision and this is why I am having the 'Share a Meal' fundraising event.

When we sit down to our buffet lunch on 22 September, enjoying the good company of friends and supporters it is important for us to remember that whilst we have a plentiful supply of good nourishing food, which is readily available.  This is not the same for children in Uganda. To all my guests, including those who are unable to come, these key points will put my fundraising event into context and will give us all "Food for Thought!"

  • More than 1 in 3 children under 5 year have stunted growth
  • 1 in 10 children are underweight
  • 60% of people live below the poverty line
  • only 40% of children are exclusively breastfed for 6 months
  • The situation is expected to worsen as a result of the refugee crisis in South Sudan.

World Vision will achieve amazing results with your generous donations for example:-

  • £10 could train 3 volunteers to support new breastfeeding mums
  • £32 could help a mum learn how to prepare healthy nutritious meals for her child/children from local resources
  • £93 could train a new village health worker in some of the remotest communities of Uganda

Selasi Gbormittah, (see photo above), Great British Bake off Contestant and World Vision celebrity Ambassador is also taking part and has recently visited vulnerable children in Uganda.

Together we "Will and can make a difference".  Please show your support and make your donation now.

I also want to reach out to the wider world and invite you to make a donation to this very worthwhile appeal, the more we raise the more children and communities we can help.  Thank you for your generosity.
