We raise money to improve the lives of people affected by cancer. From funding state-of-the-art equipment and groundbreaking research, to creating the very best patient environments, we will never stop looking for ways to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.

Story

Myself and a small group of friends are taking part in the Marsden March on Sunday 16March, in support of the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. For us this is a way to pay tribute and remember our dear friend Harriet Roberts, who very sadly lost her battle against leukaemia last April.

For those of you who didn't know her, Harry was diagnosed with leukaemia a few weeks after the birth of her second daughter having had no idea that there was anything wrong with her. For two years she was in and out of the Royal Marsden often spending weeks and even months solidly there without leave and limited communication with her husband and two young daughters.

We all visited her there on several occasions during that traumatic time and were always struck by the incredible care and compassion that she and her family received from all the doctors, nurses and support staff. They tried to retain some normality even when Harry was in isolation; for example bringing a cot into her room so that she could have 'sleep overs' with her new born baby.

Rather poignantly, the 16th March would have been Harry's 38th birthday and we will be joining thousands of others walking the 14 miles from the Marsden in Chelsea to the Marsden in Sutton. Over the last three years this event has raised an amazing £3.35million to support cancer diagnosis, treatment, research and care.

Whether you were lucky enough to have known Harry or not, we have all been touched by cancer in some way and we very much hope that you might be able to sponsor us so that we may do our own small bit to help ensure that this world-leading cancer hospital is able to continue providing the necessary care and attention for the 50,000 patients they treat every year.

Thank you!
