The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or to other conditions. The charity is also one of the largest funders of childhood cancer research in the UK.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Those of you who know me will tell you that every now & then, I fancy a wee hair do change.  This time, as I was planning something that was going to be a little more than a trim, I started wondering if there was a suitable alternative use for my surplus to requirement tresses.

After quickly ruling out weaving mouse blankets or the production of really hairy string, I discovered 'Little Princesses'.

The Little Princess Trust is a children’s cancer charity whose mission is to supply real-hair wigs to children suffering with cancer, for the duration of their treatment.  In addition to this, they also assist children with other conditions which result in hair loss, the most common being alopecia.  Some boys and girls cope remarkably well but for others this can be very upsetting.

The trust holds an arrangement, through one of their wig suppliers, with a wig-making factory to make use of donated hair sent to the Trust.

From these donations, a large number of wigs are manufactured and given to the charity free of charge.  These wigs, made in particularly small sizes, can normally cost up to £2,000 each.  In addition to these free wigs, the charity has to purchase further wigs in order to keep up with demand.

As the demand for these wigs is higher than can be met through hair donations alone, I thought I'd share their story with you whilst sharing my hair and ask if you would consider sparing a few pounds to help make a young person smile.

I would like to try & raise a further £350 as this should cover the average cost to provide a wig to one child.

Any amount of fundraising will help bridge the gap.  For donations made via my page, I will be able to apply for 'matched funding' through my employer, up to the value of £500, which would double the amount I achieve for the charity.

Thank you in advance for your time, all donations received and your support with this.
