Story

*UPDATE*

Well... WE DID IT!!!! What an absolutely wonderful experience - such a marvellous, happy, atmosphere. We completed our challenge in 9hours59minutes, achieved by the unstoppable enthusiasm, positivity and resilience within all our team... Such an incredible amount raised for a wonderful cause, a MASSIVE thank you to you all!

'...and may even dip of your paddle lead you toward a rediscovery of yourself, of your canoeing companions, of the wonders of nature, and the unmatched physical and spiritual rapture made possible by the humble canoe.'

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

The past year has been a pretty tumultuous one having been diagnosed with cancer and spinal tumours. And yet there have been so many positive, uplifting and beautiful moments too, through the huge amount love and support shown by so many people. So now I want to do something really, really special with some of the people I love most in the world: my family and their wonderful friends, who I know are my friends too!

Our challenge is to row 38.58km along the three longest lakes in the Lake District, Windermere, Ullswater and Coniston Water in under 12 hours! It provides a test of physical endurance and in order to complete this undertaking successfully we all must contribute considerable energy, drive and determination whilst remaining focused on our goal, which is raising money for CancerCare.

CancerCare is a very special local charity, very close to my heart, and I would so dearly love for other people to benefit from it’s services, as I have done.  This wonderful charity provides free counselling, therapeutic massage, drop-in centres, art classes, hydrotherapy, many, many other forms of support, both group and one-to-one; so important at this particularly difficult time in someone’s life.  CancerCare is there for the families of those affected by cancer too – perhaps it is even harder for those witnessing a loved one’s struggle – support for families is vital, too!

This will be a unique and unforgettable experience! – a true “Celebration of Life” with loved ones – family and friends.

Thank you so much for your support,

Lots of love,

Susie xxx
