Story
My beautiful daughter Katie died three years ago on the 13th May, 2011 at the young age of 27 years.
Katie was diagnosed with the extremely rare genetic condition of Niemann - Pick at the age of nine years.
It is a neurologically, degenerative disease leading to progressive loss of motor skills and difficulty with walking.
At present there is no cure for Niemann - Pick disease and realistically it will be some time in the future before there is one.
Although Katie's life was short it was one filled with love and laughter.
When I am feeling sad I think of the following words:
We can't feel saddened by the loss of those we love, without first remembering the joy of loving them. The real sadness would be never having them in our lives at all.
Katie was an inspiration and I am doing this trek in her memory.
All proceeds will be sent to the Katie Elliott Fund set up with Niemann - Pick by Katie's grandfather.
