Story

I am taking part in the Prudential Ride London-Surrey 100 Mile Ride on August 4th. Along with many other lycra clothed cyclists (yes, I understand how frustrating it is to come across us when you're driving),  we will be hogging the roads from  Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, along a 100-mile route  through the capital and into Surrey's countryside.  It's a big challenge for me but, with the company of some super supportive cycling mates, I have been training hard and the distances of my rides are increasing and the hills becoming less challenging (sort of!)

Ironically, I had signed up to do this ride before Stuart's diagnosis of prostate cancer earlier this year.  But of course since receiving that news the incentive to train hard and to give support to Prostate Cancer Research Centre with my fundraising efforts has become particularly poignant.

Prostate Cancer Research Centre is the only prostate cancer charity that focuses solely on the advanced stages of the disease which causes the majority of prostate cancer deaths and for which the treatments are currently limited.

Stuart's cancer was very fortunately in the early stages.  He has had a prostatectomy at the beginning of June and thankfully is recovering well (his knowledge of 1 day cricket matches knows no bounds)  and thankfully his prognosis is good.

Over the next few weeks I will be continuing to train for the Prudential Ride.  I am keen to support this worthy cause, especially in the light of what Stuart has just been through.  I would be very grateful for any support you can give me.

Thank you so much.  Love, Susie
