My 2019 challenge is to complete the Outlaw Half Iron Distance Triathlon in Nottingham.
70.3 miles - swim, bike and run
9 hour time limit
The last six months have involved a lot of exercise, frequent periods of doubting that I can do this, running my first ever half marathon, several falls off my bike, and discovering the nutritional properties of malt loaf to help keep my energy levels up on the 4 hour bike ride! I’m also learning that endurance is mental as well as physical.
As many of you know, I’m proud to live in Coventry, a City of Sanctuary and a city with a strong heritage of peace and reconciliation.
I’m raising money for Carriers of Hope, a local charity that is 10 years old this year and provides practical help and friendship for refugees and asylum seekers in the Coventry area. They do a fantastic job to build bridges rather than walls and support around 130 people every week. I’ve been involved with the work that they do for several years now and their work has a real impact on the lives of the people their serve.
As I push my body and mind to their limits and ensure I complete each section of the race within the designated times, I have set the audacious goal of raising £5,000. Will you help me to achieve this goal with some radical generosity?
