Story

Many thanks for taking the time to visit our Just Giving Page.

In early September this year the four of us Sutcliffe Siblings will attempt to swim the 22 miles across the English Channel. In order for the swim to be officially ratified we will each need to swim for an hour at a time in a set order – for example Lucy can’t swim for 2 hours and then Jack only swim for 5 minutes. William will almost certainly have to do at least one hour alone in the pitch dark – quite daunting for a 12 year old lad! We are hoping it will prove to be a great challenge we can complete altogether, as well as a great opportunity to raise a really substantial amount of money for charity. Hardly a bunch of seasoned cold water enthusiasts but us Sutcliffes are made of sturdy stuff!

The swim will be on behalf of Cherry Trees – a local charity providing respite care for children with severe learning and physical disabilities in the Surrey area. Many such children require special care 24 hours a day for 365 days of the year. It’s not surprising then that from time to time both they and their families need a break. Cherry Trees provides that break in a safe and loving environment. For some families it might just be for a few hours one day a week, but for many others it’s every day care throughout the year. Cherry Trees is very simply a lifeline for over a hundred families in the Guildford area. For more information on Cherry Trees, please take a look at their website 'www.cherry-trees.co.uk'

Joking apart this is a very serious undertaking and a big challege for us all. Please note that 100% of your money will go direct to Cherry Trees so please give generously.

Many thanks in advance for your generousity.
