Story
Hi, I’m taking part in the bath half marathon on the 3 March 2013, this is also the first anniversary of my Husband Nigel’s death. I wanted to do something to remember Nigel but was unsure of taking part at first, as I don’t know how I would feel or if I would be able to do it. A few fab people at Bootcamp had already planned on running the Bath Half and it just felt 'right' to join them with it taking place on that date.So after some gentle persuasion and amazing support through a group of wonderful people who I go to Bootcamp with, we are going to do it! I will be able to do something positive and worthwhile to remember Nigel and hopefully raise some money for charities that helped Nigel, many others and myself.
One of my chosen Charity’s is Marie Curie as they provided me with support, security, peace of mind, comfort, assurance and a few hours sleep whilst Nigel was at home. Nigel’s wish was to die at home, the Marie Curie Nurses stayed overnight and sat with Nigel in his last remaining nights so I could get some rest and be able care for him fully at home. They truly are Angel Nurses and I cannot thank them and the palliative care team who worked alongside them enough. They helped Nigel die a good death. They are amazing wonderful people who you only get to meet in such unfortunate circumstances.
