In October 2022 the Ritchie Girls are trekking the Himalayas in honour of our dear mother, Dorothy Ritchie.  Mum loved the Annapurna region of the Himalayas, trekking through this area on 2 separate occasions before she was sadly diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.  As sisters we thought that this challenge would be a very special opportunity to honour Mum’s memory, as well as giving back to St Peter’s Hospice; who did so much to help us during her illness and at the end of her life.  

It is very hard to comprehend how much a hospice does until you find yourself in the situation of losing a loved one, it is a frightening and bewildering experience.  On many an occasion, but especially towards the end, the staff were like guardian angels appearing at just the right time; knowing exactly what to do to give Mum the comfort she desired and what to say to give us the reassurance we were so in need of.  

We hope you will join us in donating to this very worthwhile cause, your support shall certainly help us as we train for and commit ourselves to this incredible challenge, which we shall try to accomplish with the same determination, grace and humour as Mum always had.
