There are many misconceptions about sexual assault; that it is only a violent act, by a stranger but it comes in many forms and it happens so much more often than talked about. 

Manchester R*pe Crisis are a charity that give equivalent of 6 months worth of sessions of free counselling, support groups, helplines and tools for survivors of sexual violence, assault and abuse. MRC support women across the whole of Greater Manchester, enabling a better life for victims. 

Sexual abuse is a very difficult topic for many people, and for that reason rarely spoken about, however it is sadly a more common than people realise. Statically 1 in 6 children are sexually abused and 1 in 4 women have been raped in the UK, 5 in 6 of the assaults are by a partner or someone that they know. 

Abuse can affect people in many different ways, and without the right support, can be detrimental to the victims lives, no matter how long ago the event(s) took place. 

This charity is a safe space for those who's lives have been affected by the actions of others and truly transformative for the women who are able to secure a place. 

Sadly the waiting lists for such support is currently 1 -  2 years due to lack of funding. I am hoping to raise £1000 to go towards the support for women across Manchester to have a opportunity to heal from their experiences and experience a more fulfilled life.
