Imagine being told your toddler you thought was healthy, but perhaps slow to progress, in fact had a rare and devastating disability that would leave them needing lifelong 24/7 care. Rett syndrome changes lives irrevocably. With your support Rett UK is there from the beginning. #ToKnowHerIsToLoveHer

Story

On 6th February 2020, Anna and I are setting off for an adventure of a lifetime and climbing Kilimanjaro. It’s completely Anna’s fault that I have been roped into this, and probably a bit of a midlife crisis! However I am so excited, I love a challenge and this is going to be a huge one! The training has started in earnest and we have become very familiar with Box Hill. I am raising money for Rett UK, I know two families who are affected by Rett  syndrome and anything that can ease their and their daughters lives will be worth every step on that mountain.

Rett syndrome is devastating for a family. Having suspected something was not quite be right, suddenly they are told their child will be profoundly disabled, with multiple health problems including epilepsy, a curved spine, breathing problems, feeding difficulties and gut/bowel issues. Rett UK is there to pick up the pieces; emotional support, high quality, accurate advice & information, advocacy, reducing isolation, empowering families, building emotional resilience and helping the person with Rett syndrome live a life worth living.
