Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. My mum and I and undertaking the National 3 Peaks Challenge on the 23rd of September to raise some money for the Coming Home Centre. The challenge involves climbing the highest 3 peaks in Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scafell Pike) and Wales (Snowdon) in 24 hours.

We have decided to raise money for the Coming Home Centre as they are a local charity offering support to ex servicemen across Glasgow. The centre provides a drop in facility, offers advice and support for veterans as they adapt to civilian life and where necessary the centre can get specialist help where it is needed.

In particular, the centre has provided support for my grandpa, a WWII veteran, over the last year. The centre has given him companionship since my gran passed away and they continually look out for him and make sure he is ok. He gets picked up, taken to the centre for lunch or dinner and  movie nights. The centre even organised for him to be a VIP guest at the naming of the new HMS Forth, as he served on the original HMS Forth in WWII.

The centre relies on donations to look after ex servicemen, and even my 91 year old grandpa goes out collecting and selling poppies.
