Yala Fund started working in the area around Yala National Park in Sri Lanka in the aftermath of the 2004 Tsunami. Over two decades we have raised more than £1m for Tsunami survivors, schools, hospitals and poor families. A current focus is on medical and income support for poor elderly Sri Lankans.

Story

We all get asked frequently for charity donations but every little helps.

£1
buys a school uniform to enable a child to attend School
£5       buys a pair of shoes
£35     will buy a bicycle to deliver children to school and produce to market
£40     will install a water supply for a family
£70     will buy a sewing machine to set up a business
£150   buys a milk cow to enable a poverty stricken family to earn an income

With just £200 we can convert a room in a house into a shop, equip it and set up a co-operative with local villagers.

Again, we will be paying all our own expenses but we need your support to enable us continue with our existing projects and help new families lift themselves out of unimaginable poverty.
