Story

This is the story of survival and hope for anyone who is affected by the brain tumour right now. Cancer doesn’t just attack one person. It attacks the whole family and we should stand together to fight back!

Please donate and share this story for two reasons. This is your chance to support lifesaving research and give someone hope in their darkest hour.

My friend Sarah was a happy, healthy and active 14 year old
girl when she started having terrible headaches and noticed changes in her coordination. She was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, the most common type of malignant childhood brain tumour that can grow back with vengeance and can be fatal.

Sarah had to have operation.
The road to recovery was long and fraught. She fell into coma during initial days, followed by “locked in” syndrome. She was lying in the hospital bed unable to move or speak. The doctors saw no future for her…

However, Sarah had other plans. Her parents were determined to bring her back
to life. Over the long months Sarah slowly learnt to eat, speak and eventually walk again. Her mum and dad were there every step of the way, insisting that she would be better off at home, even though she wasn’t mobile yet. It took over a year for Sarah to be able to return to school. She was still required assistance with walking, but nothing could stop her determination to fight for her right to be happy.

She overcome this dreadful illness, finished her education,
got married to a wonderful man and now they have gorgeous daughter together.

She brushes off the variety of disabilities and continues to
enjoy her life. She is a true fighter. Her resilience is inspirational, and I am proud to be her friend.

I am running for Sarah in a hope that there will be more happy
endings.

Currently Brain Tumour Research and the research it funds is at risk and any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. Please donate if you can and share this campaign. Don't let all the progress and work over the past 10 years go to waste.

Brain Tumour Research is uniquely focused on funding sustainable and long-term research into brain tumours at dedicated UK Research Centres.

Your support will help get closer to a cure for brain tumours. The Charity is building a network of brilliant researchers and developing the next generation of world-class experts in neuro-oncology. They are also influencing the Government and larger cancer charities to invest more nationally into this crucial area of medical research.

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this disease. We are a leading voice calling for support and action for research into what is called the last battleground against cancer.
