Georgie's Genes
Campaign by Muscular Dystrophy UK (RCN 205395 (England and Wales) - SC039445 (Scotland))
Thank you for visiting our team fundraising page for our Muscular Dystrophy UK Family Fund: Georgie's Genes.

Story

Just 3 weeks to go and I will be running the Scottish Half Marathon.  My inspiration is a little girl called Georgie (the daughter of a very close friend) and I will be helping her family to raise awareness and money through a Family Fund for Muscular Dystrophy UK - Georgie's Genes.

Georgie is 6 years old and was diagnosed with L-CMD in November 2014. L-CMD is a very rare form of congenital muscular dystrophy caused by a mutation in the lamin A/C gene which leads to progressive muscle weakness of the skeletal, respiratory and heart muscles. L-CMD is so rare that there is little knowledge about the disease progression and there are only a handful of children in the UK that have the condition. By participating in this event I hope to raise funds to support the research and development into this, as yet, incurable condition.

Any sponsor will go directly toward Georgie's Genes Team page.

Thanks!
