An Epic Cycle To South East Asia · 30 June 2010
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My name is Adam Crisp and run a little pub in Swanage. One quiet afternoon I was browsing google maps and decided that I need a change of scenery. And my change of scenery was going to involve making as much money as I could for cancer research.
The idea is quite a simple but an effective one, me and a friend are planning on getting on our push bikes in June 2011 and starting our epic journey to bangkok in around 6 months the date we will be returning will be in January 2012(and 22 countries).
I have put mine and my mothers pub back on the market and hope to sell by Christmas time so i can start some training. My friend Kristian Budden and he is currently working part time for me at the Globe Inn as he lost his career dream. He was training to be a Marine Navy Diver but had to leave after 12 months training due to a problem with equalizing his ears!
This gives us around 10 months to raise as much money for cancer research as we can, we will try and get our story into the national papers and hopefully get some donations that way. We are going to be running on a budget of £500 each a month which I hope to raise from local businesses so that all the money that is donated online goes to charity.
The route that we are taking has not been finalised but here is the route that we are taking so far:-
Leave Swanage, Dorset cycle to
Dover to Calais ferry crossing to
France, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia, Bulgeria, Greece then into Asia to
Turkey, Iran (we have to go north east from Iran to miss out the really dangerous countries Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Bangledesh, Bhurma) to Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, China, Dropping south into Nepal, Bhutan then back north into China (to miss Bhurma) then into Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia then west into Thailand to our collapse point Bangkok.
Now that has to be worth a few pounds out of the wallet in your pocket.
When we leave we will keep our website upto date with photos and how the journey is going!!
We have also got a blog website that we will now be updating with training that we are doing and fund raising events. When we leave this site will have photos, videos and blogs going on it. www.swanagetobangkok.blogspot,com
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Just think before you decide to donate or not that nearly everybody in their lifetime is effected by cancer either directly or indirectly. That £1 or £100 you donate might just be the final £ for producing a drug that could stop a deadly cancer effecting you or a person very close to you. Thanks again for taking the time to read our page.
So please dig deep and donate now.
If you would like not to use your card online cheques can be made payable to Adam Crisp and delivered to The Globe Inn, 3 Bell Street, Swanage, Dorset, BH19 2RY and then will be paid onto the website!!
Thanks
