HOPEWALK2020 · 1 October 2020 to 31 October 2020 ·

HOPEWALK is a PAPYRUS event that takes place every October to raise vital funds for suicide prevention and to smash the stigma around suicide. We are encouraging people to plan a walk in a safe way with members of the same household.

Story

PAPYRUS is the national Charity for the Prevention of Young Suicide. Suicide is the biggest killer of young people under the age of 35 in the UK, in 2018 over 1800 young people took their own lives. PAPYRUS provides confidential support and advice to young people struggling with thoughts of suicide, and anyone worried about a young person through their helpline, HOPELINEUK. Every £5 raised can help pay for a life-saving contact to HOPELINEUK. Your donations really are lifesaving, thank you.

Swansea University is proud to support PAPYRUS and the invaluable work it does with young people in our community. HOPEWALKS take place across the UK throughout October to get the conversation started around suicide. We want Swansea's HOPEWALK to raise awareness, raise money and reduce stigma.

Please join us on our 3 mile circular beach walk  - just remember to wear suitable footwear and dress sensibly!
