Story
Drowning is a silent epidemic that claims an estimated 360000 lives each year, many of them children. It is also the 3rd leading cause of unintentional death worldwide.
The work I do at Swimfinity helps teach children and adults in my home community how to be safe in water and near water but this summer, I want to do more for less fortunate children.
As a family we have applied to volunteer teaching children how to swim and be safe around water in Indonesia Bali, summer 2022. To do this we need to raise funds for the charity Swim Tayka. Pools being closed due to covid 19 pandemic has not only effected businesses like my own but, lots of children have missed out on their swim education.
Challenges this year for me to raise much needed cash for SwimTayka include...
Polar Bear Challenge 1000m every winter month from November 2021-March 2022. I've so far managed November and December! the water is below 5 degrees currently!
Henley 4 Mile swim, Scarborough 5k night swim and the length of Windermere 10.5mile swim, training for this has already started.
More to follow once confirmed. Harriet and Dominic (My kids) will be creating their own just giving page soon and sharing some of their challenges.
My Swimfinity swimmers, past and present will be doing a sponsored swim on May 1st, swimming as far as they can in 15minutes. We aim to cross distance of the channel!!! (In the Mount School York!!)
Thanks in advance for any donation you can give.
