Swim for Dementia · 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Hi all!

I'm hugely honoured to be able to take part in the Swim for Dementia 30-day challenge in support of Alzheimer's Society UK, even from a considerable distance.

Alzheimer's disease is a physical illness which damages a person’s brain and is the most common cause for developing dementia. Currently, there are 900,000 people living with dementia in the UK and this is projected to rise to 1.6 million by 2040.

My objective entails swimming for an hour, three to four times a week, with the ultimate goal of covering a distance of 15 miles within the duration of this 30-day challenge. Beyond the personal accomplishment, my intention is not only to generate funds but also to cultivate awareness and empathy for those affected by dementia and their families.

Please donate any amount you wish to and thank you for your support!!!
