Swim the Channel for Brenda & Gail · 29 December 2009

We‘re the world‘s leading cancer charity dedicated to saving and improving lives through research. We fund research into the prevention, detection and treatment of more than 200 types of cancer through the work of over 4,000 scientists, doctors and nurses.

Story

I wanted to do something different to help raise money for Cancer Research UK. We are organising a sponsored swim, equivalent distance to swimming the English Channel (22 miles)...for Cancer Research UK. This will involve a team of swimmers, counters and supporters and therefore you are sponsoring all of us to complete this challenge as a Team.

I am ultimately doing this for my Mum, Brenda Martin, who is going through chemotherapy at the moment. Unfortunately one of my best friend's, Beth Fox, her Mum was also diganosed with this horrible disease recently. We are doing this event for them... for the Mum's.

Unfortunately, this disease effects 1 in 3 of us and we need to help Cancer Research UK raise money so the scientists can continue their efforts on controlling and ultimately, hopefully, curing it.

Please dig deep for this event.... all contributions are gratefully received.

Many thanks,

Beth & Jules xxx

Personal messages:-

Hi Julie,

I really wish you and Beth the very best of luck with this fantastic fundraising event

As it’s a charity that I very strongly support, after the sad loss of both my parents 3 years ago to cancer,

and sadly only last year of course my dear wife Jane.

Sincerely hope Julie,  that your mum and Beth’s mum come through this ok, and your love and support

will, I'm sure be of massive help and comfort to them both.

Take care, and well done on doing this wonderful event.

 Regards

 Andrew G xx
