Many of our service-users have experienced episodes of homelessness and difficulties obtaining or retaining accommodation which is why we have chosen to participate in this joint venture with partnership agencies.The Sleep Out not only provides an opportunity to raise money for SWISH Coventry service, but also to gain a small insight into what it is like to have to sleep on the streets.

The SWISH staff and fabulous volunteers are joining forces this August with with partnership agencies tKairos and Embrace to do a 12 hour sleep out in Hillfields where SWISH Coventry and other local services offer a dedicated outreach services to street sex workers Monday – Friday. 

There are high levels of vulnerability within the female homelessness population - mental ill-health, drug & alcohol dependencies, childhoods spent in care, experiences of sexual abuse and other traumatic life experiences are all commonplace. Rough sleeping is extremely dangerous for homeless women - many have been physically attacked, verbally abused and sexually assaulted. For many of the women that SWISH Coventry support who are street sex working, the majority have slept rough and safe accommodation remains a key need for the women we support.

So if you can please give as much as you can to our just giving page it would be massively appreciated. We hope to raise enough monies to continue to provide food bags, toiletries, clothing and emergency funds for the SWISH client group. If we raise enough, we can put the funds towards group work and drop in sessions where we can provide much needed support and advice as well as a hot drink and a warm snack  J
