WE'VE DONE IT! CAN'T WAIT FOR OUR NEW ROOM!

 

Exciting changes are afoot at Switchback and you can help to make them happen!

Switchback is centred on an intensive, long-term, motivational relationship. We encourage and challenge our trainees, advocate on their behalf and help them negotiate specialist services. We work with trainees to stabilise extremely chaotic lives – housing, relationships, drugs, health and interaction with the criminal justice system. As you can imagine, this work involves ongoing sensitive conversations with the trainees and people connected to them.

We are currently working from desks in the middle of the open plan office above the Crisis Skylight Café. Being truly embedded into the work of Crisis and the Skylight Café has suited us very well and given us a brilliant start.  However, it is difficult to have private conversations or give the trainees a sense of belonging to Switchback in such an open area. We now have the exciting opportunity to create our own room within the Skylight Centre.

At the present time we are right on track to raise sufficient funds for our programme but in order to take advantage of this unexpected opportunity, we are urgently looking for £3000 to pay for creating this the new space. We would be very grateful for any contribution to this.

 

I’ve posted a picture of a Switchback trainee who has taken the brave step of moving his life down to Devon in order to work at River Cottage Canteen following a work placement we arranged for him there. As things start happening, I will keep you updated with slightly less exciting photos of the works in progress!
