Sydney May Emily Bennett was admitted to the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Southampton on the 23rd April 2014 after receiving care and assessment at the Children's Assessment Unit at QA Hospital, Portsmouth.

Sydney was diagnosed with "Group B Streptococcal Meningitis" and fought against the disease for three days. On Friday 25th April 2014, at 0850, Sydney passed away. Sydney was 22 days old.

These events honour a very brave little girl.

Upcoming Events include:

Sydney's mummy will attempt a 10,000ft SkyDive on Sunday 16th October. This is a massive challenge for someone petrified of heights!

Past fundraising events include:

Sydney's mummy ran the Great South Run on Sunday 25th October 2015. After 2 pregnancies and with a mending broken toe this was more of a challenge than it sounds!

An online auction, commencing the week of Sunday 2nd August for 1week only. This raised £260......thank you x

Sydney's Mummy shaved off her hair to raise money. Portsmouth's Hair Stylist of the Year 2014 was the "Hair Shaver" and was held at New Mall, Cascades Shopping Centre on Saturday 7th February 2015. Sydney's Mummy was 7 months pregnant at the time.

Other past events include completing a 19.9 mile walk carrying 140kg, the  2014 10 mile Great South Run as Ellie Elephant from Friends of PICU and several raffles and cake sales. Many friends have also raised money and we thank them x

I hope that Sydney's Fighting Journey will continue to raise money for the PICU and raise awareness to GBS in the hope that other children, parents and friends never have to go through the same ordeal.
