Thank you for taking the time to visit my page. I've set up this fundraiser as I am running the St Albans Half Marathon on June 10th for St Albans for Refugees (StAR), a local volunteer-run charity that works to bring comfort to those who have had to flee their homes in war torn areas. StAR have been tirelessly collecting money and transporting donations to refugees in Calais and are currently one of several small NGOs working together to provide relief for refugees in Lesvos. I've been thinking for a while of ways to support them and this seemed the perfect opportunity to raise some money and awareness.

The ongoing refugee crisis is something that hits me to my core, especially in the current climate of increased hostility and suspicion towards others. No one should be without shelter, safety, food and basic comforts. War may seem far away, but it is really not. Everyone on this planet only gets one chance at life and we owe it to each other to make it the best life it can be.
