Story
This year elected Chairman Cllr Tom Barkley has chosen LOROS as his charity. The charity offers specialised care to those over 18 with complex problems who are suffering from terminal illness. They provide short stays for symptom management and end of life care. They also offer day therapy, complementary therapy, and counselling.
Officers hold fund raising events for the Chairman's charity throughout the year and raffle ticket sales from the Civic Reception also support this.
There is a sponsored LOROS 10K walk in August that our officers are taking part in this year.
LOROS is a charity whose aim is to enhance the quality of life of adult patients with cancer, progressive neurological conditions and end-stage organ failure for whom curative treatment is no longer possible. Patients are treated at the Hospice and in the community based upon clinical need, regardless of background and the ability to pay.
