Aoife's Bubbles Charity was founded in 2019 in loving memory of Aoife Flanagan. Aoife was just 3 when she passed away from Germ Cell Cancer. Aoife only had her cancer diagnosis for 5 days despite her Mum taking her to the GP and A&E in excess of 10 times in the weeks leading up to her passing.

Story

On 7 July 2019, Aoife, passed away from germ cell cancer aged just 3 years. Following a number of fundraising events carried out by an exceptional bunch of people including ride 100, Welsh peaks and a wing walk I was lucky enough to be asked to join in this year challenged, I can’t believe I am saying this but I am Donning a Disney princess dress (I will be the daughter of the village chief Moana) and undertaking the National Three Peaks Challenge.

All money raised, is going to Aoife's Bubbles Charity which has been registered in her memory.  Aoife's Bubbles Charity is the only UK registered Charity for children's germ cell cancer.

The Charity funds research into childhood cancer and in particular donates to the Institute of Cancer Research to help them undertake vital research into the genetics of solid tumours.  Also, the Charity wishes to raise much needed awareness of childhood cancer so people know the symptoms and realise that childhood cancer is not rare.  The aim is to reduce diagnosis times and to empower parents and the medical profession with knowledge to spot the symptoms.  Aoife's Bubbles charity also provides acts of joy and respite to children and their families affected by childhood cancer through gifts and short breaks.

Aoife Flanagan was born on 21st January 2016. True to her name, Aoife was a genuine 'warrior princess', beating meningitis at 6 weeks of age.  Aoife recovered remarkably and went on to live a full life, with Mummy Eilish, Mummy's horse Argy and Aoife's pony Bubbles.

Aoife was fatally misdiagnosed with common childhood constipation and ear infections on the multiple times she saw a GP and was dismissed from A&E on 3 occasions in the weeks leading up to her passing. Please read more on her charity and story below.  On 2nd July 2019, Aoife was finally diagnosed with Germ Cell cancer after months of GP and hospital visits. Tragically and sadly, on 7th July 2019 at 02.15 am, Aoife passed away - aged just 3 years old.

Thank you for your support and for helping to make a difference to children's lives affected by cancer.
