Story
Why are we cycling from Seattle to Boston?
We are cycling across the United States to fundraise for two mental health charities. We believe that mental health, for everybody, is a top to bottom endeavor: caring for your body is essential in maintaining a healthy mind. There’s an overwhelming number of factors that contribute to feeling good mentally, but strengthening your body and practicing self-care will never be a wasted effort.
With the continuing deployment of COVID-19 vaccine, the world will keep reopening. However, there is still much work to be done and now more than ever it is key to help fund James' Place. I decided to choose James’ Place due to the success of their non-clinical approach to preventing suicide. Unfortunately, suicide is still the biggest killer of men under 50 and we, like James’ Place, believe death by suicide is preventable. James’ Place’s mission statement is simple, to ‘stop men from dying by suicide,’ and their novel approach has been proven to work. Despite the success of their services, James’ Place is limited to the geographic location of each centre. Our ambition from working with James’ Place is to help raise funds for their new location opening in London this summer, and to aid them in their long-term goal of expanding their operations across the country.
