Charity Football Match · 30 July 2022

We support young people and adults with mental health issues in Manchester. We're an independent, self-financed charity offering services to those most in need. We promote positive attitudes to mental health to challenge stigma, increase awareness and work for better mental health for all.

Story

Talking Football is football group that has been set up to bring men together to play football. In doing so this is allowing male members of the local community to come together, meet up with old friends and make new ones too. Building trust in each other to allow them to talk openly and freely without any judgement, about any mental health or well-being issues they are facing.

This group has grown week by week and there is even social connections now whereby we meet for a drink and a chat or go on early morning walks showing constant support throughout the week not just at football.

As a group we have chosen to put on a charity football match at the local community centre to raise awareness and funds for a local mental health charity. This is going to be Manchester Mind.

Manchester Mind is an independent, local charity, which supports over 6,500 children, young people and adults each year. We believe that everyone deserves to be supported in their mental health needs and we have a part to play in that. Our charity values the commitment of our staff and volunteers, who work hard to ensure services are delivered in a way that enables people to feel heard and involved. Donations and help from our fantastic supporters make a real difference, so thank you for being part of our success this year.

We would also like to use any cash donations we receive to do something nice for the local community which has sadly lost some of its residents over recent years to mental health.
