<p>The Tamworth Herald and its generous readers have successfully raised £20,757 in a campaign to ensure seriously-ill local people keep benefiting from specialist care and support at St Giles Hospice.<br><br>Jo’s Appeal launched in September 2011, with the target of raising enough funds to ensure Dosthill-based Staff Nurse Jo Pickering could tend to the needs of people living with cancer and other serious illnesses at the Compassus Centre in Whittington for an entire year.<br><br>Over 30 weeks, Herald readers contributed their time, effort and money towards making sure that people from their own community could receive high-quality care by helping Jo’s Appeal achieve its goal.<br><br>The Tamworth Herald regularly reported on fundraising events organised by readers for the appeal, including family fun days, music nights, quizzes, golf days and a recycling drive led by Smurfit Kappa.<br><br>St Giles Hospice would like to thank all the Herald readers who made Jo’s Appeal a success and for their on-going support.<br><br>The local charity relies on donations and fundraising from the local community, so to show your support, visit www.stgileshospice.com to find out how you can help.</p>
