My mother was a wonderful person, she had a hard life but overcame all challenges that life had in store for her with aplomb. She married my father at quite a young age and together they brought up 9 children. From farming stock she loved to grow things, mostly food to feed her family. She was always and remains the most selfless and dedicated person i have ever known. I learned of her diagnosis in May 2015 and immediately took a flight to Hong Kong from London to be with her. It was a late diagnosis and by mid July she had passed away as I watched over her hospital bed. She left behind her husband and 9 children, 11 grand children, and 4 great grand children, and a hole in each of our hearts.
I'm told that Pancreatic cancer is regarded as one of the most painful cancers to die from and would like to help ease the burdens of others with this wretched disease.
I have been planning an overland motorcycle trip from London to Hong Kong for the past year and will finally set off tomorrow, travelling through Western Europe via Venice and on to Central Asia passing through many of the Silk Routes cities and towns. From Istanbul in Turkey through the "Stans" countries to the western border of China where the plan is to ride up to Everest North base camp via the highest mountain pass in the world at over 5000m above sea level, and onto Lhassa in Tibet and through China, hopefully ending up in Hong Kong to spend Christmas with my father.
I will be riding a Honda CB500X Rally Raid motorcycle and expect to cover approximately 200 miles per day on average. It would be really good if you could donate whatever you can afford no matter little or a lot to this cause which has affected many lives of many families.
