The RAF Benevolent Fund is the RAF's leading welfare charity. We have been there for all members of the RAF Family for over 100 years. Last year we assisted more than 70,000 members of the RAF Family. Support us in 2025 and help us reach even more members of the RAF Family.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This year I set myself a challenge. On the 21st October I am going to abseil from the Forth Rail Bridge to raise funds for the RAF Benevolent Fund. You ought to know why this charity holds such a special place in my heart.

On 2nd September 2006 I was widowed. My Fiancé was killed in Afghanistan with 13 others, when his Nimrod exploded in mid air. At only 23 years of age my world had been turned upside down. Along with a few others, the RAF Benevolent Fund helped to steady me.

The RAF Benevolent Fund offered me financial support in the immediate aftermath. They have continued to support me throughout the years by providing help, advice and friendships as and when I have been in need. This kind of support is vital for people like me who have really needed to reach out to them at times.
