Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page,
The Ian Meek Let’s Cure Brain Tumours cycle challenge will take us from Bristol to Leeds on Saturday, July 13 and Sunday, July 14.
I will be cycling 220 miles in 24 hours to raise money to fund brain tumour research and patient support.
The reason for me wanting to do this cyle has been inspired by my ex-partner’s brother Ian Meek, from Yate, who died last August after living with a brain tumour for 18 years. Despite his tumour becoming terminal in 2009, 42-year-old Ian dedicated himself to raising awareness and money for Brain Tumour Research and Support across Yorkshire (BTRS) where he lived with his wife Sally, 40, and three children Keisha, 21, Hannah, 19, and Samuel, 16.He organised and took part in a group Three Peaks challenge in 2010 and a 200-mile bike ride from Bristol to Bradford.
His incredible efforts raised over £110,000 to fund a research student at the University of the Leeds for three years and last year Ian carried the Olympic torch in York.
BTRS have since renamed their charity cycle rides in Ian’s name and friends and family continue to fundraise.
Now I would like to take up the mantle with the cycle ride, having only bought a bike in February, i will be cycling 105 miles the first day, with a gruelling 115 miles on day two. "That’s the thing that I’m dreading," . "The last 60 miles through the Yorkshire Dales. It will be tough."
Ian’s mother Pauline Meek, 68, added: "I think he’d be very pleased to think that it’s still going on.
"He was always thinking of the next challenge."
All donations will be a massive appreciation, Lets Keep raising in Ians Name and fund this worthy cause that he fought so hard for.
