Myself and my friend Tania from Worcester are taking part in a dream challenge next year, cycling coast to coast in Costa Rica.

Tania and I both lost relatives to cancer last year and wanted to do something positive to raise funds and awareness for charity. Everyone is affected by cancer and has a heartbreaking story to tell.

We wanted to fundraise so that as many people as possible could be involved in our project.

This will be a massive challenge for us as we did a practise cycle to Birmingham last weekend... It took twice as long and we spent most of it lost! We are not the best navigators or cyclists.

We decided to take on this challenge and fundraise for Breast Cancer Care, Ovarian Cancer Action and Jo’s Trust who can only carry on the work they do from donations and help from people like yourselves.

Now our fundraising story gets a little crazy. We came up with the idea of a “Calendar Girls” style calendar and began organising it. The Worcester Saucy Calendar.

This has now become something we never expected. 

On July 1st we had 106 local women attend a photo shoot at Whitbourne Hall and Longlands Farn in Worcestershire for our Country Life theme calendar, professional photographer, makeup and hair stylists, caterers, a bar and lots and lots of volunteers for the day and people were even coming to us requesting to be in the calendar. Some of these ladies have or are suffering with cancer at this time.  This was an emotional day for all involved and the hard work from all our volunteers could not be thanked enough. We have had a lot of media attention for this project.

We are currently building a website with an online shop. Also we have organised a launch party with press. So along with raising money we are also raising a lot of awareness for Women vs Cancer charities. The Worcester Saucy Women Calendar will be on sale 7th Sept so watch this space.

We are also in the process of setting a Guinness world record for the most number of naked women in a charity calendar.
