Selfless Bangladesh 2018 Global Health Leadership Programme · 28 July 2018
Access to healthcare in poorer places of the world, such as my country, Bangladesh is shocking; over 60% of the country has no access to healthcare, despite it being one of the most densely populated countries in the world. In the UK there are 9 maternal deaths for every 100,000 live births. In Bangladesh, the mortality rate is almost TWENTY TIMES HIGHER.
I am a current dental student, studying at King's College London. Along with qualified doctors, dentists and other medical and dental students from the UK, with the support of local doctors, we will be setting up health camps and providing free antenatal and family healthcare to those most in need. Personally this expedition is very dear to me as we will be working in rural Sylhet, the city where my own parents were born and raised.
All of this will only be possible through your donations, so please donate whatever you can and help me reach my fundraising target of £789.47 (yeah, don't ask XD). This will allow me to embark on this life-changing expedition for both the people of Bangladesh, but also personally for me, allowing me to help people so close to my heart.
(Disclaimer: Volunteers, such as myself, pay for their own air ticket, so more of your donation goes to helping people in need!)
Thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page, and thank you in advance for any donation you have made!
