Durham City Prince Bishop's Run · 25 July 2019

The Auckland Project is a different kind of regeneration charity, working with our local community to ensure that Bishop Auckland’s future is as magnificent and vibrant as its past. Your support helps local people to access jobs, apprenticeships and training; and new skills in art and heritage.

Story

On Thursday, 25 July, 15 members of The Auckland Project
will be pounding the streets of Durham for the Prince Bishops Durham City Run 2019.

Our team of runners have been training hard over the past
couple of weeks as they prepare to run a total of 95km, raising money for the Incredible Edible holiday food scheme.

There are around 132,000 children living in poverty in the
north east, many of whom experience holiday hunger. An estimated 1 in 6 parents now skip meals to ensure their children are fed. Not being able to afford food over the summer means that children return to school with lower levels of confidence. In a 2016 report from schools, over a quarter of education staff (26%) said that pupils suffered from hunger and 38% said that they felt pupils suffered from physical health issues during the summer break.

Please sponsor us to help make sure that children (and their
families) in County Durham can be happier and healthier over the summer holiday. Thank you!
