In July 2017 my mom was diagnosed with High Grade Non Hodgkin Lymphoma; a type of blood cancer. To say we were all totally shocked with the news that mom has cancer was an understatement. As the consultant explained what was going to happen next, further tests etc. and the treatment that would be needed the part that saw mom get really upset was being told she would lose her hair. It was at that point I decided that I would Brave the Shave to support mom through this tough time and it’s okay to go out with no hair and just a scarf or a wig. My dad and my partner have also decided to Brave the Shave to support her. By the three of us doing this to support mom through the R-CHOP (chemo) we are also going to be raising money to support others as well both now and in the future.
