Tara's #1in10 Challenge

#1in10 Challenge · 4 March 2021
In 2017, I realised that my menstrual cycles were getting uncontrollable - I thought maybe I was just being a total wimp, but the pain became really excruciating not to mention intolerable and I started to have sickness more often. I felt so embarrassed when I couldn’t and still can’t do many activities I used to enjoy because of the hellish experience associated with my menstrual cycles. Endometriosis is a whole body chronic condition where the endometrial lining of the uterus can grow in other areas within the reproductive system like the Fallopian tubes or ovaries. This condition affects 1 in 10 females, so it is surprisingly common. My heart sinks knowing it takes 10 years of being told that this is all in your head or that your just over-reacting before you are able to get an accurate diagnosis. I think it’s the worst thing we do as women by not sharing the truth about how we feel and how our body works. Endometriosis is the leading cause of infertility and has turned my life upside down. I would love if you were able to donate to my fundraiser - help find a cure to this invisible illness, allowing affected women to feel like even if they’re in the worst club it has the best members.
