Tara v Mount Kilimanjaro · 4 October 2014

When You Wish Upon a Star has a simple mission: to grant the Wishes of children living with a life threatening illness. Wishes have the power to transform the lives of children and families. Since 1990, we have proudly granted over 19,000 Wishes across the UK. We'd love you to be part of the magic!

Story

Ain't No Mountain High enough...  Err except maybe Mount Kilimanjaro. But I’m not going to let 19,341 ft stop me from getting to the top (although the altitude might!).

I’ve been looking for a way to challenge myself both physically and mentally for a while now, to take myself out of my comfort zone and do something I can look back at in my old age and say ‘Wow did I really do that!!’. A friend asked me on my birthday back in January after a few drinks 'Tara what would you like to achieve this year?' and I said  'Climb a mountain!' and then forgot all about it. Months later, a friend suggested climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, put me in touch with a group of like-minded ladies, and 2 months later I find myself buying walking boots, base layers and waterproofs! On 4th October i'll be taking my first steps up Kilimanjaro, aiming to reach the summit on 8th October.

This is my own personal challenge to overcome, however at the same time I want to use this opportunity to raise some money for a great charity called When you Wish upon a Star, who do some amazing work for children between 2-16 who are dealing with their own massive challenge on a daily basis . Hopefully I can raise enough money to grant the Wish of at least 1 child with a life threatening illness. So please dig deep and give what you can, every amount helps.

Thanks for taking the time to view my JustGiving page and helping to support this great Charity.

Thank you in advance for your support xx
