Tara is doing the West Highland Way!

West Highland Way · 21 June 2008
10th September 2008: I've done it!!! 19 miles on Saturday and 12 on Sunday. Mum would be proud. I ache in places I never knew existed but it is well worth it, I had a fantastic time. Thank you all so much for sponsoring me, I am really grateful.
August 2008: I've got my hiking gear! Not my usual attire but I have managed to coordinate boots and jacket. Trinny and Suzanna would be dead impressed, I can tell you...
July 2008: The route has changed in that it's now from Inveranan to Kingshouse. Still long, still hard, still further than I've ever walked before...
I'll take the high road...
Not being the most sporty of people, it was with some trepidation that I decided to join other Diabetes UK fundraisers on a two day walk along the West Highland Way from Milngavie to Rowardenan. That's 42 miles. The blurb said for experienced walkers - but to hell with that, it also said for those who like a challenge!
As you may know, my mum was diabetic and diabetes was at the root of many of her other illnesses. I am doing this walk in memory of her and to help raise awareness of this life-long condition.
...and you'll take the low road...
Any donations you make will go to the Christine Ann Platt Tribute Fund, helping Diabetes UK work to improve the care and support available to people living with diabetes. It will also help fund vital research projects to find a cure.
...but I'll be in Scotland before ye!
My training regime is getting off the ground (no really, it is) and I'm looking forward to the challenge. Although the blisters, not so much.
