Arms Around The Child (AATC) is committed to transforming the lives of children who have faced extreme adversity, including orphans, abandoned children, and those rescued from abuse or trafficking. Operating in Ghana, South Africa, and India, we provide safe homes where children can heal and regain hope. Our support extends beyond shelter, recently expanding with the opening of a school to offer education and essential life skills. This initiative empowers children to break the cycle of poverty and build a brighter future, focusing on their long-term well-being and growth.

Story

Dear friends and family,

On the 27th of June 2010, I shall attempt to complete my first Ironman in Nice, France. 6 years in the making, it will be tough but given the right support, I am confident I will give it my best.

3.8km swim, 180km bike, 42km run. One of the toughest Ironman courses out there.

I need your support. This can come in many ways, from my coach, great doctors that have assured me I am in good health, friends who are forgiving when I cancel on them for training and now this.

You're on this page because you believe you can make a difference. Most of us are blessed in that we are in good health. We have received a good education and know what's important and how to take care of ourselves. As a person who grew up in Africa, I have been able to see the other side of the coin. HIV/AIDS is a real issue. It is an issue that is more urgent when contracted at an early age and inflicted upon you. But there is a choice. It is possible to live a relatively normal life with the right medication and the right care. We can all make a difference. We can all make the right decisions and the right choices.

Keep a Child Alive is dedicated to providing life-saving anti-retroviral treatment, care and support services to children and families whose lives have been affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa and India by directly engaging the global public in the fight against AIDS. Please give generously and know that your support means a lot to them and to me. Help me cross that finish line with a smile on my face!

I remain eternally grateful to you all,
Tarek
