Story
Over the course of the last few years, Ian’s complicated glaucoma condition has worsened significantly. As a result Ian has now lost 100% of his sight in his left eye and about 70% of his sight in his right eye. As many people will know, Ian is an active individual and the loss of vision has caused him to make huge changes to his life. Whilst these changes have been extremely challenging, they have been made so much easier by the incredible support he has received from Bucks Vision.
Bucks Vision have been an unbelievable help, supporting Ian to help life his life as normally as possible with limited vision. They have provided an exceptional level of support, information and resources to enable Ian to cope with the transition.
Inspired by the recent public challenge for people to walk 1000 miles in a year, Ian has made a commitment to complete this challenge in half the time, so will walk 1000 miles in 6 months, between 1st January 2021 and 30th June 2021. In doing this, Ian hopes to raise awareness and some much needed funds for Bucks Vision, to say thank you for the incredible support they have provided to him and his family.
Bucks Vision are a non-profit organisation in Aylesbury, a local vision impairment charity supporting people with sight loss across Buckinghamshire. They provide support through all stages and severity of sight loss, providing equipment and running courses to help people with visual impairments to remain as independent as possible. They are a small dedicated team who understand the practical consequences and emotional impact of sight loss.
They have been invaluable to Ian throughout this journey.
