Story
In 2016 I had to say goodbye to one of the most important people I had growing up. Vinnie was my cousin and brother at heart, someone I spent so much time making up crazy inventions with and playing spies around the house trying to hide from relatives. He was my best friend, someone I admired dearly, who supported and loved me just as much as I did him. Someone who's devilish laugh brought a smile to my face, making the world feel less lonely.
On January 27th 2016, Vince lost his battle to Leukaemia after a strong fight. My aunt and uncle had so much support from everyone, it was incredible how many beautiful people there are out there loving and caring for others. That is why on October 9th - 17th 2020 my aunt and I were doing a charity challenge walk along the Great Wall of China to support CLIC Sargent.
(Unfortunately, due to COVID we couldn't do our challenge, and have deferred it until October 2021. In the meantime, I am running, walking, swimming and biking the length of the UK from Lands End to John O'Groats. 1744.2km distance! )
CLIC Sargent help prevent cancer from destroying young people's lives. They help families with emotional support, financial aid and help families prepare for the worst. They have homes and carers near hospitals so family members can stay nearby. As the future seems daunting for young people, CLIC Sargent helps with education and carers during and post treatment. They helped my cousin with his exams and deferring a place at university. They are making significant changes to peoples lives, just as they did for my family. All donations will go to them, continuing to make a difference. Thank you.
In loving memory of Vincent Appleby. I know you'll be with us every step of the way Vince x
