Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page. If you're reading this it means you didn't just skip over my call for support and believe me, it's much appreciated.
Why am I doing this?
Those of you who know me well (or have ever seen me eat) know I'm nowhere near fit enough to be doing this (reader laughs) but I was offered an opportunity to participate and help this amazing charity, so I jumped at the chance!
I've got just eight weeks to prepare so it's safe to say I'm feeling a little anxious! I'm determined to get the job done (queue motivational Rocky soundtrack, da da daa da da daaa).
Why Anonymous Child?
Anonymous Child represents the children whose identities are unknown to us. Children who are often forgotten and left behind as the world around them develops and progresses.
Children and young adults are the most vulnerable group in society. Anonymous Child fights the cycle of poverty and inequality by providing support to high-impact local projects that enable children to become a positive driving force within their communities.
I am inspired by their vision for a world where all children and young people, regardless of their economic background, are given access to high-quality education and care to ensure a fair start in life and set them on the path towards a brighter future.
Here are some eye-opening statistics:
- 57 million children remain out of school
- 103 million youth worldwide lack basic literacy skills
- Over 60% of them are women
- More than 200 million children under 5 in developing countries currently do not reach their developmental potential
It's sad that in 2017 children around the world but this is our chance to do something about it, through supporting local community-led projects rather than paying for the expensive offices and inflated salaries of the larger, 'established' charities.
What's my target?
I'm hoping to raise a minimum of £500 (hopefully more!) to contribute to Anonymous Child's ambitious plans. So please dig deep!
My target for the race? I'm aiming for a time somewhere around 2-2.5 hours but as long as I survive I'll be happy!
Where is your money going?
One of many amazing projects being developed is a pilot pre-school program for disadvantaged children in Peru.
Children aged 3-5 will be offered afternoon classes during which they will get a chance to play, explore and learn. The goal is to further their learning abilities and their linguistic, cognitive and social skills.
How much should you donate?
As much as you can afford, any and all donations are welcome. No matter the amount, please do add Gift Aid as this makes a huge difference!
I really appreciate all your support guys, thanks in advance from me for your donations. Wish me luck! The before/after photos will be priceless...
Gracias!
