In November 2019 I will be trekking over 50km through the national reserves of Cuba. This challenge will help raise money for 2 amazing charities.

Day 1: TOPAS DE COLLANTES 5+KM TREK

Early start today, transferring 5 hours from Havana, we drive south into the Sancti Spiritus province and our base for the week. The Topes de Collantes are located in the heart of the Escambray Mountains.

Day 2: CASA DE LA GALLEGA 18KM TREK

The challenge begins with a boat crossing of Lake Habanilla to Casa de la Gallega surrounded by coffee estates and abounding in natural spectacular beauty with scenic views along rough 4x4 trails.

Day3: LA HACIENDA CODINA 18KM TREK

Our trek today is mostly uphill through the magnificent Escambray Mountains through incredible forests of Caribbean pine and eucalyptus that are full of historical and cultural landmarks. This was the site of resistance during Che Guavara and Casto’s revolution

Day 4: PARQUE CABURNI 12KM TREK

Today we trek direct from our Hotel in the heart of the National Park. It is a lovely trail to the Salto de Caburni waterfall, the natural monument and symbol of Escambray Trinitario. From here its trekking on towards Parque Caburni with its spectacular 150m waterfall.

Day 5: PAPARQUE EL CUBANO 10-12KM TREK

After breakfast we transfer to Ignacios farm for the start our final trek. On the way we pass the highest point of our trek that gives us great views of the coastline beyond Trinidad. We then walk into the Parque El Cubano.
