Clarendon Marathon · 2 October 2022

I am Thomas Bwambale, from Kasese Uganda, and I have decided to take on the Winchester Rotary Clarendon Marathon in aid of Tools For Self Reliance!

Story

Thank you for visiting my Marathon page!

I am Thomas Bwambale, from Kasese, Uganda, I have been sponsored by the Rotary Clubs of Winchester and Southampton Magna, as well as Rotary District 1110, to intern at Tools For Self Reliance, a charity based in Netley Marsh, Southampton.

On Sunday 2nd October, I will be taking on a full marathon! I have never taken part in a marathon before, and have only been training for six weeks, so this will be a real challenge for me to overcome. This is why I have entered Winchester Rotary's 'Clarendon Marathon', to express my appreciation for the training and help that I've received from Tools for Self Reliance by raising money for their work across the 5 African Countries they support.

I will be an intern for just over 3 months at Tools for Self Reliance, to learn about the process of refurbishing tools alongside their volunteers, and to help the Charity pack for their next Africa Shipment. I am looking forward to take all the information I've learnt back to Uganda, where I volunteer for Great Lakes Peace Centre in Kasese.

Please therefore sponsor me so that I can raise funds for Tools for Self Reliance, a charity working to reduce poverty, by assisting people to earn a sustainable income for themselves, their families and their communities.
