Story

Who are we?

We are The Common View, a student indie band based in Leeds, having formed three years ago at Uni of Leeds.

What are we doing? (How can you help?)

We've decided to use this release to raise money for our local charity, Leeds Mind in Four ways:

  1. Donate directly - First and foremost, we are pushing this fundraising campaign ahead of and during the release of Early Grey, as a way for you guys to donate as much or as little as you can to Leeds Mind.
  2. Buy a T-shirt - We are in the process of producing some T-shirts based on the music video we are making (check our social media sites for more info and designs, etc.). All of the profits made from the T-shirts will go towards Leeds Mind, and you get a cool T-shirt. Link to T-shirts:
  3. Pre-order/buy our single on Itunes - For 79p you can pre-order/buy the song from the Itunes store. All of the money will go directly towards Leeds Mind after processing through our distributor. Link to Itunes: https://music.apple.com/gb/album/early-grey-single/1520781559
  4. Pre-save and stream our song after release - We've pledged all of the royalties we receive from streaming services towards the charity, so you can still contribute to the cause even if you can't afford to donate directly. Pre-save link:
Why are we fundraising for Leeds Mind?

Our next release 'Early Grey' was recorded and produced during lockdown and is about the negative impact that poor mental health can have on everyday life and the importance of getting help/beginning the process of healing. We wanted to use this song as a way to raise funds for local charity Mind Leeds, as well as to draw attention to the importance of mental wellbeing and breaking the stigma that is mental health. The song’s lyrics are a reflection of our own experiences during lockdown; struggling with creativity and adjusting to the ‘new normal’. However, they also draw from our experience with mental health struggles outside of lockdown in everyday life.
